Driver Rater

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Aren’t you just encouraging people to use their phones while driving?

Absolutely not! Our Coders have put a lot of time into making sure that the Driverrater App functions as hands free as possible. We are constantly working on using voice controls wherever and whenever we can.

Do you collect and store personal/private information?

No. We do not even get your name. The only personal/private information we collect is the email you provide to us and your devices IP address. Neither of which is publicly accessible.

Isn’t my car’s registration number personal?

Your cars registration number is publicly accessible information. It’s only if this information is connected to your name or your address (your private information) that there is an issue. As we don’t have your name or your address, we can’t do that. In fact, the information we collect on your vehicle is less than that made publicly available by State governments on their rego check Apps.

What about other information like time, date and location?

As a rule, this is not information we collect. However, if the vehicle you are driving is part of a corporate fleet and has been entered onto the Driverrater database covered by a “Corporate membership” then yes, this information is collected and made available to the business owner or corporate entity. Not the general public.

What about my safety when I rate or comment on another driver?

None of your details or your vehicle details are provided when you make ratings or comments on other road users. You are effectively anonymous. When commenting or replying to comments made about your vehicle, your identity is symbolised by a colour and any comments you make; in that message strand, you will have the same colour so other users know they are chatting to the same person. The user who has been rated is symbolised with a green star to reflect their unique circumstance. These measures have been built into the App to help protect against Cyber Bullying or stalking.

What happens if I sell my car and buy another one?

Just delete your old car from your vehicle profile within the App and add the details of your new vehicle.

What does Driverrater do to prevent Cyber Bullying or stalking?

This is a particularly important question. For starters, Driverrater is classified as a type of social media. Something like Facebook for vehicles. Both Google Play and the App Store have stringent guidelines in regard to protections against Cyber Bullying and stalking within social media apps. Social media apps must abide by these guidelines and show that there are measures available to users within the app. This is a part of the approval process for those apps to be made publicly available. Typically, this is done by providing users the opportunity to report inappropriate content and by having algorithms to detect inappropriate images.

Driverrater abides by and meets all these requirements. Within the Driverrater App wherever you can find User Generated Content you will also find a “Report” button.

In fact, we exceed the requirements placed on us.

As previously mentioned, user’s privacy is front and centre in everything we do. Importantly our chats or comments and replies, are designed in such a way to protect privacy and discourage cyber bullying. This is the reason why users are allocated a colour when chatting as opposed to using one’s vehicle profile perhaps. This is also the reason why premium users receive a fixed number of characters to use when chatting and once that limit is exceeded extra characters are paid for. It is our belief that bullies are less likely to continue if it is costing them to do so.

Can I remove my vehicle from your database?

No

Do you sell data?

No

How does Driverrater plan to monetise this idea?

Premium membership is a subscription service. At a small monthly cost, users have access to our Dashcam mode, as well as rating and our social media services.

Free members can also use our rating and social media services, but the cost is higher.

There is also a small charge to purchase extra characters for use when commenting and replying. However, this is predominantly done to discourage excessive comments, harassment, or Cyber Bullying.

Corporate fleets are charged at a different rate to our usual subscribers due to the range of extra services available to our Corporate customers.

Finally, it is our aim to keep advertising to a minimum. However, we are looking to partner with a national automotive accessories chain in order to provide Gift cards to our valued users.
